What Kind Of Dentures Will Help Your Smile?

When you have suffered significant tooth loss, then you need more than a bridge. With a denture, we can tackle major tooth loss with removable and implant-supported options. In today’s blog, your Dallas, TX, dentist talks about how we rebuild smiles with full, partial, and overdenture options!

Partials

Partial dentures can address complicated cases of tooth loss. When you have multiple teeth missing across your arch, this could be too substantial for a bridge, but you may have enough natural teeth in place that a full isn’t necessary. We will examine your smile and extract any diseased or infected teeth. We then take detailed digital images of your smile to create an impression that enables us to design and fabricate your prosthetic. The prosthetic will contain an acrylic base that looks like gum tissues, with new ceramic teeth designed to fit within the gaps of your smile. Metal clasps will anchor these in place, and your procedure will last about 5 to 10 years on average.

Fulls

If you are missing most or all of your teeth, then our team will extract the last few and take detailed images of your teeth from multiple angles. We use this to create an impression so we can custom-make your full dentures, which will again have an acrylic base, but a full row of new teeth this time. We design and shade these to ensure they can endure bite forces and offer a natural-looking appearance. Suction or an adhesive will anchor these in place, and again they may need replacement every 5 to 10 years.

Overdentures

While removable prosthetics are effective, they don’t stimulate the growth of bone structure, which causes the jaw ridge to break down and change shape, necessitating the replacement of your prosthetics. But with overdentures, we insert multiple dental implants into the jaw and then attach a custom prosthetic to them. The prosthetic is removable for cleaning, but once in place will never slip. These also protect the stability of the jawbone so your new teeth can last for decades to come, possibly a lifetime. You have a new smile that can look and function like natural teeth.

If you have any questions about how we address more substantial cases of tooth loss with our custom tooth replacement options, then contact our team today to learn more. We want you to smile with confidence and enjoy optimal oral health, and a renewed confidence!
